Tapcon® Installation Tool Kit
The Tapcon® installation tool kit is a multi-purpose installation tool used in hammer drills that have a 3/8" or 1/2" chuck. The installation tool kit allows the user to use one drill for drilling the hole and installing the Tapcon® concrete screw. The Tapcon® installation kit includes the necessary components for installing both the hex washer head and flat countersunk Phillips Tapcon® concrete screws (3/16" and 1/4" diameter).
There are two operations required to install Tapcon® concrete screws:
1.) A hole needs to be drilled into the base material, using the hammer & rotation function of the hammer drill.
2.) The screw needs to be inserted into the hole using the rotation only function of the hammer drill.
Here is how to use the Tapcon® installation tool:
Parts:
- A — drill bit adaptor
- B — allen wrench
- C — sleeve
- D — #2 and #3 phillips bit tips
- E — Phillips bit drive adaptor
- F — 1/4" and 5/16" hex driver
Instructions for Using the Tapcon® Installation Tool Kit
- Chuck the adaptor (A) into either the 3/8" or 1/2" chuck of the drill.
- Using the allen wrench (B), loosen the set screw in the adaptor (A).
- Insert the Tapcon bit with flat side facing the set screw.
- Tighten the set screw securing the bit in the adaptor.
- Drill your hole in the base material, using the hammer & rotation function of the hammer drill.
- Take the sleeve (C) and slide it over the bit, pushing to lock it to the adaptor (A)

- A. For driving a hex head Tapcon® insert the 1/4" nut driver for the 3/16" Tapcon® or the 5/16" nut driver for the 1/4" Tapcon® directly into the open end of the sleeve (C).
- B. For driving flat head counter sunk phillips Tapcons, take the phillips bit tip #2 for 3/16" or #3 for 1/4", insert it into the phillips bit tip drive adaptor (E). Using the allen wrench (B) tighten until bit tip is secure in adaptor. Then, insert bit tip adaptor (E) into the open end of the sleeve (C)
- Take the Tapcon® screw and insert head into either the hex driver or the phillips driver, switch the drill to the rotation only function on the hammer drill and drive the screw into the base material.
